This Privacy Policy explains how Cham Language Institute ("CLI," "we," "our," or "us") handles information through chamlanguageinstitute.org and related communications. It applies when you browse the website, submit an inquiry, pursue affiliation, support CLI, or otherwise interact with the Institute online.
This Policy does not govern the independent privacy practices of third parties, including websites reached through external links and any payment service that CLI may make available.
2. Information we collect

CLI collects information that you choose to provide. Depending on the interaction, this may include:
- Contact information, such as your name and email address.
- Inquiry information, including the subject and contents of a message submitted through a form or by email.
- Affiliation information, including professional background, institutional connection, qualifications, proposed contributions, and related correspondence.
- Contribution information, such as donor identity, contact details, contribution amount, date, and information needed for acknowledgments, accounting, or legal compliance.
Payment information
CLI does not currently collect payment-card information through this website. If online contributions are enabled, payment credentials will be handled by the payment service identified at checkout under that service's privacy terms. CLI will not receive or store complete payment-card numbers.
Information collected automatically
CLI uses Google Analytics 4 when Analytics is enabled under the regional default or your browser's stored choice. Analytics may collect browser and device information, pages viewed, referring pages, approximate geographic region, visit times, and interactions with website features. CLI does not send names, email addresses, form contents, or payment details to Google Analytics.
3. How we use information
CLI uses information to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website.
- Respond to inquiries and institutional correspondence.
- Review affiliation requests and administer approved relationships.
- Record and acknowledge contributions when giving services are available.
- Understand aggregate website use and improve public information.
- Detect misuse, fraud, technical failures, and security threats.
- Meet tax, accounting, recordkeeping, and other legal obligations.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, CLI relies on consent, fulfillment of a requested interaction, compliance with legal obligations, and its legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Institute.
4. Analytics and cookies
CLI uses Google Analytics 4 to measure website traffic and understand how visitors use the site. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Analytics storage is denied unless the visitor accepts Analytics. Elsewhere, Analytics is enabled by default. Any visitor may accept or decline Analytics at any time through Privacy Choices in the website footer.
When Analytics storage is granted, Google may use first-party cookies and receive information such as the page URL, browser and device details, online identifiers, and an IP address used to derive general location information. When Analytics storage is denied, Google tags may send limited consent and measurement signals without writing or reading Analytics cookies. CLI does not use Google Ads, advertising personalization, behavioral advertising, or marketing pixels. Advertising storage and advertising-personalization signals remain disabled. The Cookie Policy provides additional details.
5. How we disclose information
CLI does not sell personal information and does not disclose it for cross-context behavioral advertising. CLI may disclose information to:
- Service providers that support website hosting, email, security, Analytics, accounting, or other institutional operations.
- Google when Google Analytics operates under the regional default or a visitor's choice, including limited consent-mode signals when Analytics storage is denied.
- A payment service if a visitor initiates an online contribution after that function becomes available.
- Professional advisers when their services reasonably require the information.
- Governmental or legal authorities when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, systems, or CLI's operations.
CLI limits disclosures to the information reasonably needed for the relevant purpose.
6. Retention
CLI retains information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. Relevant purposes include responding to inquiries, evaluating and administering affiliations, maintaining contribution and tax records, protecting the website, resolving disputes, and meeting legal or accounting obligations.
Retention periods vary by record type. Routine correspondence may be deleted when it is no longer needed. Contribution records may be retained for the periods required by tax and accounting rules. Analytics data is retained according to the settings applied to CLI's Google Analytics property.
7. Rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information. These may include rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, and a right to withdraw consent. CLI evaluates requests under the law applicable to the request and may verify identity before acting.

8. Security and children's privacy
Security
CLI uses reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Children's privacy
The website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. CLI does not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If CLI learns that such information has been submitted, it will take appropriate steps to delete it. A parent or guardian may contact support@
9. International visitors
CLI is based in the United States. Information submitted through the website may be processed in the United States and in locations where service providers operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from the laws where you live.
CLI handles privacy requests and international data obligations according to the law applicable to the relevant processing.
